Eleanor's journey in jewellery began at a young age when she was surrounded by her father's art collection, where Qing dynasty snuff bottles and antique jewellery first captured her imagination. Their intricate craftsmanship and vibrant gemstones sparked a passion that would later shape her career. This early fascination deepened during her studies in Asian art history at Sotheby's and SOAS in London, where she discovered how jewellery transcends mere adornment to become powerful symbols of love, legacy, and identity.
After leaving behind a career in finance, Eleanor pursued her true calling at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and qualified as a Gemologist and Jewellery Designer. She founded Etra Fine Jewellery, driven by a vision that jewellery should embody the essence of each person’s unique story, and each piece is a lasting legacy.
